Wed - Sat // 12 - 6 pm & Sun // 12 - 5 pm

*Tastings are provided up to 1 hr prior to closing. The bar for onsite glass and bottle sales closes 30 min prior to closing.

Come discover our vineyard and be a part of our growing wine community. Check out the vines, taste the fruit, sign up to help with the harvest, learn how we press grapes and hold onto your bottles for aging…or just have a glass and enjoy your visit!

Details in regards to visiting BBV:

  • No reservations are required for groups of 8 or fewer. Indoor/Outdoor tables are on a first come first serve basis. In times when we are busy, we will ask that your stay be limited to 2 hours max. Please check in with us in our tasting room upon your arrival.

  • Reservations are required for groups of 9 or more (max of 12 people from Nov - April. Max of 15 adults from May - Oct). To make a reservation on our Simpletix website (links below). If you arrive without reservations and your group exceeds 9 people, we will not be able to accommodate you unless we have an opening for large group reservations at that time. Large group reservation fees will apply. We will do our best to accommodate your group but there are no guarantees we have the space. For larger groups looking to visit during the week, please call 413-247-3300 to make a reservation.

  • Ample tables and chairs but welcome to bring your own chairs or blankets (for lawn)

  • We are family-friendly as well as pet-friendly to friendly dogs. Dogs must be leashed at all times and we kindly ask that you pick up after them.

  • Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited on our premises and is a direct violation of our state winery license.

WINE TASTINGS:

BBV is a winery/vineyard and we’re about educating our guests through our wine, wine tastings and processes. We offer guided wine tastings throughout our regular business hours.

  • Tastings are provided either at our tasting bar inside or outside (during summer months) Tastings are $12 for (5) 1 oz pours. Please plan at least 40 minutes for a tasting.

  • Reserve Wine Tastings - ask us about our premium cellared wine collection. Additional tasting menu is $18 for (3) 2 oz pours of rotating reserve wines.

  • To request organized tastings for larger groups, please contact michelle@blackbirchvineyard.com for further assistance.

FOOD: The Laughing Tomato offers artisanal handmade pizza every weekend. We do also have a menu board available with a limited selection of packaged local cheeses and meats, along with crackers. You are always welcome to bring your own picnic as well.

DIRECTIONS

Black Birch Vineyard is located in the bountiful fields of Hatfield, Massachusetts—a short 12-minute drive from Northampton. Ian and Michelle have planted thousands of vines and have a tasting room. Come by and share a glass of wine (or two) with us!

  • Via I-91 N:
    Take Exit 30 on I-91 N to merge onto MA-10 N / US-5 N towards N. Hatfield / Whately. Turn right onto Depot Road and another right onto Straits Road. The vineyard will be on your right.

  • Via MA-10 N / US-5 N:
    Follow MA-10 N / US-5 N past Northampton and through Hatfield. Turn right onto Depot Road and another right onto Straits Road. The vineyard will be on your right.

  • Via I-91 S:
    Take Exit 32 and make a left onto US-5 S / MA-10 S towards N. Hatfield / Whately. Make another left onto Depot Road and a right onto Straits Road. The vineyard will be on your right.

  • Via US-5 S:
    Follow US-5 S past S. Deerfield and through Hatfield. Turn left onto Depot Road and a right onto Straits Road. The vineyard will be on your right.
