Meet the Artist Opening Reception: Carol Gobin

Get a chance to meet the exhibiting artist as we sip wine, eat cheese, and appreciate local art. Carol Gobin’s work will be hanging at the vineyard October-September.

BIOGRAPHY

Carol came to painting after extensive study in house building, architectural drafting, graphic design and visual arts. She received her formal art education at the California College of Art and at Berkshire Community College where she studied under Mark Milloff. After college she spent fifteen years as a commercial artist before taking up oil painting and began portraying old barns, interiors and landscapes.

ARTIST STATEMENT

A strong fascination with light and shadow, architectural detail and the glowing late afternoon light as it rakes across the landscape and into buildings, inspires me to catch the beauty of those moments. Painting with a limited palette I create a complex mood by enhancing the luminosity and serene harmony of colors.

Meet the Artist: Caroline Pierce

My current artistic focus is portraying memories through my ceramic work, specifically focusing on experiences I have had revolving around nature. By carving out natural textures onto my ceramic forms, I aim to both replicate pieces of nature as well as abstract the subjects into classic ceramic forms. The labor-intensive carving and sculpture work helps me to solidify these special moments in time, and honor the family I shared these times with. I hope to spark a conversation about experiences others have shared through nature, and how the different textures and carvings might represent different events to different people.
